AAMS Announces 2013 Public Service Award Winners

During the annual Congressional Reception, Thursday, April 18 on Capitol Hill, the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) awarded two key Congressional staffers with the 2013 AAMS Public Service Award. These awards are presented each year to a legislator, government official, organization or individual who has made significant contributions to the health, viability or interests of the medical transport community.

The Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) is pleased to announce CareFlight, Westmead NSW, Australia as the 2013 recipient of the AAMS Excellence in Community Service Award. AAMS presents this award annually to an emergency medical transport organization that demonstrates broad-based continuing commitment to the communities they serve. CareFlight, the first-ever winner of this award outside the United States, receives this distinguished honor for their MediSim program.

The AAMS Survivors Network has teamed up with teamXcommunications, Inc. and Mark Mennie Photography to produce AAMS Survivors Network 2013: Kiss the Wave, set to debut at the 2012 AMTC in Seattle, Washington. The 12-month full-color calendar is an artistic glimpse into the soul of the survivors and features insightful imagery from Mark Mennie and innovative art direction and production from Chas Juran of teamXcommunications, Inc. This dynamic collaboration was formed over a year ago, when both Mennie and Juran drew inspiration from a Survivor’s speech at the AMTC in St. Louis, Missouri. Mennie and Juran were looking for a project on which to collaborate and both jumped at the opportunity to work with the organization.

Next week is National EMS Week, May 20-26, 2012, during which there will be strong focus on the important work of EMS providers nationwide. In conjunction with EMS Week, the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) will put special emphasis on the life-saving work of medevac crews around the world through our annual MedEvac Hour campaign. Medevac crews are comprised of a dedicated combination of physicians, nurses, paramedics, pilots, mechanics and communication specialists that work together in the delivery of patient care to the most critically ill and injured patients across the globe.
