Dear AAMS Member:
Many of you will remember a proposal sent to you last summer from the
AAMS Board of Directors recommending a series of changes to the AAMS
dues structure, bylaws and governance structure. At the time, those
recommendations were sent to the membership with the request for
feedback.
|
Since that time, we have received feedback from many of you, some
individually and some at the Annual Membership Meeting in Tampa, Florida
last September. That feedback was collected and reviewed by the Board of
Directors. The Board understood that there was a lack of consensus
around the proposal, and created a special task force of the membership
and asked that task force study the issues being faced by the
association and the community as a whole, and to come back to the board
with a recommendation on how to move forward.
That task force met in January of this year, and I am happy to report
that a consensus was reached around a recommendation for consideration.
Minutes of the task force meeting, explaining the recommendation along
with the rationale behind those recommendations, have been prepared, and
a series of PowerPoint slides have been created to explain the
highlights of those recommendations. Links to these documents can be
found below, along with a copy of the original proposal sent to the
membership last summer and additional supporting documents from the past
year's worth of work.
