Zero Errors of Consequence |

Safety is perhaps the most important issue facing the medical
transport community today. At the AAMS Spring Conference in DC in March of 2005, the AAMS
Board of Directors adopted Vision Zero as our community's
safety program. The time is right to keep safety to the forefront
with a program that would reach everyone with timely information and
educational opportunities.
Vision
Zero IS that program.

Vision Zero has a steering committee with representation from the AAMS
Safety Committee, Standards Committee, Communications and Public
Relations Committee; the Commission on Accreditation of Medical
Transport Systems (CAMTS); and the Foundation Air Medical Research and
Education (FARE). All facets of our community are well represented since
each of these committees/ organizations have membership from all
affiliated associations including AMPA, ASTNA, IAFP, NAACS and NEMSPA.
The steering committee provides direction and is tasked with assuring
that the important work by each of these committees and organizations is
completed.

Current Vision Zero initiatives are focused on the promotion of Air
Medical Resource Management (AMRM) Training, consistent safety education
at industry conferences/events, and fundraising through the sale of
Vision Zero wristbands. The proceeds from sales of the wristbands
benefit the Foundation for Air Medical Research and Education, and thus
help to fund much needed safety-related research in emergency medical
transportation.
Vision Zero is still a new concept, and we welcome your input.
Please feel free to contact the AAMS Office at (703) 836-8732 with any
questions about the program, or if you have suggestions for us to
consider as we move forward. Please check back often as we
continue to build resources for you specially geared toward aviation and
patient safety.
